About the Product:
Old vines make for very good wines…. This is one of the key points that make Casas Del Mar different and more complex than other Cava. In the Penedes region the three grape varieties Macabeo, Parellada, and Xarel-lo are blended to make Cava. At Casas Del Mar, the Xarel-lo vineyard is over 70 years old in one of the best and original sites. It is produced in the Methode Traditionelle -- the French Champagne Method. 18 months on the cork, second fermentation in bottle and finished with a moderate dosage.
Tasting notes: Nose of toasted brioche, small elegant bubbles bring hints of apples and apricots to the palate, finishing with elegant notes of citrus.
About the Producer:
Sogas Mascaró, the producer of this high-quality sparkling wine, began its activity in 1910 in Vilafranca del Penedès. Although initially focused exclusively on exporting still wines from that one area, it only took a few years before they started to develop wines and cavas sourced from a variety of vines planted around La Masia Fontallada. This family-owned historic 18th century home is located in the heart of the Alt Penedès wine-growing region. The property houses 15 hectares of vines, where only the native varieties of the area – Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada – can be found. Of these three, the 70-year old xarel-lo vines are believed to be the pride and treasure of the estate, adding an additional element of personality, body and acidity to the wines and cavas.
